Hwy 55 Burgers: An All-American Restaurant

Kenny Moore founded Andy’s, now Hwy 55 in early 1991 from the ashes of a defunct restaurant at the local mall in Goldsboro, NC. With only $500 to his name, Kenny took a risk and opened his own restaurant with a vision of the American dream. He knew he made a good cheesesteak and a great burger, but he also felt he could create a unique business opportunity that would help others reach their own personal and financial goals.

Over the last twenty years, Kenny watched his one location grow to over 100 restaurants throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Ohio and soon to be in the United Arab Emirates and Canada In that time.  Kenny and his team have built a restaurant system with proven processes, procedures and great food in a family friendly atmosphere. Kenny’s commitment to taking care of Hwy 55’s customers and staff has built a foundation of long-time employees and long-term, loyal customers.

Today, staying true to his original promise of serving others to help them become successful, many of Hwy 55's current franchisees are former hourly employees and managers in corporate owned restaurants. Kenny’s passion for servant leadership, which is a key foundation of the Hwy 55 system, is undoubtedly a driving force behind Hwy 55's growth and success.

In March 2011 Andy's celebrated its 20th year in business. In honor of that accomplishment we decided it’s time to share our proven concept, outstanding service, and great food with the rest of the world.

On February 24th. 2012 we changed our name from Andy's to Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries. Moore had to change the name in order to get a federal trademark required for domestic expansion. He said he wanted to keep the original moniker because it was named after his son, but "Andy's" was already federally trademarked by another company in Missouri.

Moving forward we will be opening new restaurants throughout the Southeast and beyond. Although the name has changed, the culture, customer service, and great food will always stay the same. Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries is a great family restaurant and will continue to have the same menu, and the food will still be named after Kenny’s son. So when you visit a Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries, you can still get an “Andy’s” Burger.

The individual owners and operators that have been willing to believe in the Andy’s philosophy will help continue to build Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries into a large company of community-oriented stores.

Look for our Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes and Fries sign, and remember… Great food, Great service, and same Great Family atmosphere. Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries.
